1. Product Description

The Shell relaxing chair was designed and introduced by Hans J. Wegner to the public in 1963 at the annual Furniture Guild exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark. It immediately garnered attention and praise from critics at the exhibition due to its innovative design, being the first 3-legged wooden chair with a back and cushioned seat.

The chair frame is made from durable and beautiful plywood, which has been treated to be resistant against termites, mold, moisture, and unpleasant odors. It has a high bearing capacity and can withstand impact without deformation or warping during use.

The seat is covered with soft cushions, providing a comfortable and cozy experience for users. As with all of Hans J. Wegner's designs, comfort is always a priority. The Shell chair features an extra wide and deep seat, slightly tilted backwards to allow easy leaning against the backrest.

The design is simplified to the maximum, without any cumbersome bars or footrests. The backrest is upholstered and also tilted back, allowing the body to relax in the most comfortable way. The chair has 3 legs with stylized back legs, providing stability and balance. It is anti-skid and stands firmly on the floor without shaking or being unsteady when sat on.
